We offer you a challenging and rewarding career opportunity as Business Systems Analyst. Under limited supervision, you will analyze complex business and technical problems to define system scope and objectives.   You will partner with IT and Finance to support and ensure the EDI invoicing process is accurate and of those customers that process payments through  the paper method, transitioning them effectively to EDI.  Conduct special studies and analysis of existing business data to identify trends and actionable items while collaborating with internal and external customers to identify project parameters, operational flow, and output requirements.   In addition you will prepare detailed specifications from which programs and/or processes will be created or enhanced; conduct analysis regarding the development of new AP informational systems and/or modifications to existing applications to meet current projected needs and assist in assessing the feasibility of application system projects, making recommendations for more efficient/effective methods. 

Primary Responsibilities will include:

  • Consult and coordinate with systems analysts and programmers to design and develop automated AP-related business system(s) and/or processes.
  • Consult with personnel to identify and document business needs and objectives, current operational procedures, problems, input and output requirements, data scope, usage formatting and security requirements, as needed.
  • Provide application expertise in support of expanding deployment of the AP system and related applications and processes.
  • Monitor and document post-implementation issues, revision requests or process improvements.
  • Meet with personnel from IT and other departments in order to determine needs, scope, priorities of systems needs and specific systems information requirements.
  • Estimate system complexity for assigned projects and prepare or assists in preparation of feasibility studies which specify alternative solutions and IT related costs and/or costs from other relevant areas.
  • Develops detailed flowcharts and/or specifications for systems and/or processing enhancements.  May design and document program logic for computer application programs.
  • Tests systems and program designs, analyzes test results, corrects issues and discusses final product with user.
  • Review, analyze and modify, as necessary, existing systems and programs in order to recommend changes in user requirements and innovations in processing capabilities.
  • Prepare required user and application documentation for the implementation and running of new, existing systems and/or processes.
  • Provide technical training and assistance to system users in requirements and use, if new systems and/or processes.
  • May assist in writing code to access, process and produce required results.
  • Participate in special projects, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Requirements include:
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent degree.  
  • 1 to 3 years previous systems analysis experience.
  • Experience with SQL, VBA, Lawson, Crystal Reports and various business analytics tools desired.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to translate information into computer system specifications, design program logic and develop detail design.
  • Prior experience with development methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, oral and interpersonal) necessary in order to interact effectively with management, IT and user-department personnel.
  • Strong team player; but can work independently.
  • Normal office environment requiring ability to organize and prioritize workload, communicate effectively, sit for extended periods of time, use standard office equipment and review and proof documents.
