Follett Book Fairs are exciting, literacy-focused school events that provide students, parents and teachers access to the very best grade-level appropriate titles from the top publishers in the world. These week-long "pop-up" events allow families to build their home libraries, while helping raise funds to support school and parent organizations.

As a strategic business partner, the HR Manager (HRM) aligns business objectives with associates and management. The HRM serves as a consultant to management on Human Resource related issues. Successful HRM will act as a change agent, while assessing and anticipating HR-related needs. Communicating proactively with the business leaders, the HRM seeks to develop integrated solutions. The HRM formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value added service to management and associates that reflect the business objectives of the organization. The HRM maintains an effective level of business knowledge about the business financial position, its mid-range plans, culture and competition.

Job Responsibilities:

*  Enables creation and execution of an HR strategy that supports business objectives.

*  In partnership with the Talent Acquisition Team create, implement, and drive the processes to acquire and develop talent to meet current and future business needs.

*  Manages the employee relations practices necessary to maintain a positive employee-employer relationship that promotes a high level of associate commitment, morale and retention.

*  Drive and continuously improve the HR processes needed to support the business. Provide expertise in the area of human capital including annual performance management, talent management, organization review, org design, learning and development, merit cycle and daily operations.

*  Analyze trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs, policies and practices. Provide HR policy interpretation and guidance.

*  Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.

*  Ensure that the employment, safety, HR and EEO policies and practices comply with the applicable provisions of federal and state laws.

*  Provide day to day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, career development, disciplinary actions).

*  Provide guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning, succession planning, etc.


Job Requirements

*  Bachelor's degree required.

*  3-5 years or more in progressive HR experience and 2-3 years in a manager level role.

*  Excellent leadership skills and an ability to influence by example.

*  Ability to build trusting relationships within the organization.

*  Skills/Knowledge: Demonstrated success in driving difficult change in a highly complex environment.

*  Expertise in HR areas including change management, recruiting, org design, compensation, communication, employee relations, talent acquisition, development and management, etc.

*  Must be goal oriented, results driven.

*  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in both group and one on one situations.

*  Demonstrated success in effecting change management within an organization.

*  Ability to earn the confidence of the business partners, influence decisions and effectively cause them to embrace appropriate organizational change.

*  Creative problem solving and decision making skills.

*  Business acumen: Ability to grasp and understand complex business concepts.

*  Strong evidence of both strategic leadership and "hands on" involvement.

*  Proficient in computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
