The challenging and rewarding career opportunity as Intermediate Tax Accountant will prepare federal, state, and local tax returns and maintains organization tax records. Prepare filings for tax refunds and researches inquiries from government agencies regarding filings, compliance, and other claims. Researches methods and present proposals to lessen tax liability through the use of laws and regulations.

Key oversight will include:

  • Organize and maintain tax records and conduct tax studies and special projects.
  • Examine accounts and records and compute taxes owed according to prescribed rates, laws, and regulations.
  • Maintain knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, tax laws and regulations, and SEC requirements.
  • Ensure that organization complies with periodic tax payment, information reporting, and other taxing authority requirements.
  • Prepare governmental tax returns and claims for tax refunds.
  •  Minimize tax liability through efficient and thorough application of current tax law in the filing of all applicable tax returns.
  • Avoid penalties and interest by maintaining adherence to internal controls, tax calendar, and policy.
  • Prepare statistical and financial reports, both on a regular and a specially assigned basis.
  • Investigate and prepare responses to notices from various taxing authorities.
  • Advise management regarding effects of business activities on taxes, and on strategies for minimizing tax liability.

Job Requirements

Qualifications include:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance or related field.
  • Experience with Corptax tax software preferred.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft products and computer literacy, especially Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to details.
  • Two to four years of professional experience in this field.
