Our IT organization offers you a challenging career opportunity as Sr. Applications Developer.  Partnering with our college bookstores,  this highly visible role will have full oversight of the Sterling B2B Integrator from mapping, to upgrades, and troubleshooting, collaborating with users to determine best software requirements that will meet the business objectives and overall strategies.

Key Accountabilities include: 

Planning, design, configure, deploy, and maintains computer-based application systems for eCommerce to meet business strategies and objectives. Analyze applications, consult with users to determine software requirements in developing and maintaining applications, suggesting options to optimize operating efficiency through application performance. Verifies feasibility of project requirements, cost and time required, compatibility with current system, and computer capabilities. Determine and implement modifications to existing programs or creation of new programs.

Integrate code into current applications and monitor that programs are running efficiently. Review applications and determine if code is ready for production tests. Run reports during testing to determine if errors occur.

Thoroughly test system when installing applications & services with existing equipment to ensure that all components are compatible with each other and that no conflicts or system malfunctions occur.

Troubleshoot system issues & work with appropriate resources to resolve. Debug programs, replace, delete, or modify code & system configuration to correct errors and add enhancement features.

Manage system functionality, identify & implement system & application improvements to optimize system performance.

Automate system monitoring tasks, triggering alerts when application problems occur and/or business partners send invalid data.

Develop documentation outlining program development, logic, coding, and corrections. Outline steps required in developing programs. Convert specifications into sequence of detailed instructions and steps for coding.

Provide customer support to end-users in solving operating problems. Provide procedural information, guides, and tips to improve and enhance usage of applications and/or services.

Job Requirements

  • Key Requirements will include: 

  • BS in Computer Science or comparable degree

  • Five to Seven years' experience in applications development, product delivery in a production environment

  • Proficiency in Sterling B2B Integrator mapping, Business Process configuration, BPML extensions & mailbox configuration and management.

  • Solid understanding of EDI x12 order processing message formats, envelopes and parsing -- supporting EDI documents 846, 850, 855 and 856.

  • Experience with IBM MQ required.

  • Sterling B2B Integrator server & application management experience required.

  • Extensive experience in managing Sterling B2B Integrator applications in Linux environment required.

  • Strong Oracle PL/SQL skills required.
